Welcome to this new edition of Ask A Vampire, the place where readers can ask anything they want about real vampires and we try our best to give good answers.

We've been busy establishing Vampires Revamped, the website for Vampgeist Creative Media.  Basically we're working with a huge educational and informational movement to help the real vampire community be better understood by the outside world.

But there are always a few questions that aren't getting answered by other means, and these we'll tackle right now.  As usual, the questions are presented exactly how we have received them.

according to your answers you're not different

from human beings, so why call yourselves vampires?

Surely you have had some kind of name or title for yourself at some point in your life.  Lots of people do it, whether it's a religion or a political party or a certain fandom.

For us, human beings and vampires are one and the same thing.  But the term "vampire" is a way of identifying ourselves as part of a larger community.  This community is bound together by various means--the vampire myth, the vampire aesthetic, even a common feeling and understanding that is personified by the vampire.

So why do we call ourselves vampires?  We ARE vampires in a modern metaphysical sense, and by calling ourselves vampires we can meet and identify with others who share the community.

Is ther vampir in Serbia?
To the best of our knowledge, there are vampires all over the world, but not the kind you should fear.
how do you become a vampire??? 
We're not sure you can.  Studies have suggested that one is born with vampiric tendencies and sensitivities, which the person embraces in a time we call the awakening.
Someone might want to spend some time in self-reflection to see if they can find the vampire within.
umm i am a vampire this is 100% true i was infact born this way im not sure wat kinda i am yet psi or wat can u help me with that and i need to have a privet convorsation with one of you just a privet question thats all plz hear me out on this
There are many vampires online who would be more than willing to talk with you, provided you were polite and asked in a civil manner.  A simple web search will bring you to many of these vampires.  Of course if you want to write to us, why not do it?

Vampires do not need blood at all in order to exist.

Greetings, and welcome back to Ask A Vampire, the interactive blog-like feature where you can ask real vampires anything!

We've been busier than even anything paranormal can handle lately. This feature is now brought to you by Vampgeist Creative Media, and more specifically the Vampgeist Cabal of real vampires and knowledgeable friends. But we're hoping for more postings in the new year--ideally, two per month, but who knows?

We have also decided that we will be posting the questions we receive exactly as we receive them, without proofing or editing. Our reasoning is to maintain the freedom of expression of the people who contact us. We don't care how questions are written, so long as they get asked and burning curiosities are satisfied. Sound good?

Do you believe that changing a person into avampire is possible?

This is a more complex question than it may seem. On one level, there is the physical transformation into a vampire that occurs in popular fiction and folklore. In this case, the question is can one being change another being into something physically different. To this, we have to say it's possible. We're living in an age of genetic awareness and change. There's no reason to think that genetic mutations cannot be passed from being to being. This being said, if we manage to establish a genetic mutation we identify as "vampire", and it can be passed along to another being at a genetic (or other cellular) level, then the answer to your question is yes.

But this only deals with the physical vampire. There is a more mental, cerebral, spiritual level of vampirism as well. This is more involved with the developing of the self and the study and adoption of certain philosophies. In this case, changing a person into a vampire is a matter of the individual being brought together with a vampiric philosophy that suits them on a profound level. You will probably find that most real vampires fall into this category.

It's one of the axioms of the vampire. Everything always comes down to sex. We think it's because vampires, sex, and death tend to dance together.

THEN IN THE MORNING TIME, I WOKE UP,MY BED FELT WET TO ME,I MOVED MYCOVER'S OFF OF M! E, I SAW BLOOD ALL OVER MY BED SHEET'S,ECT. I LOOKED AT MY ANKLE'S, AND INDEED, IDID HAVE 4 BITE'S,ON BOTH SIDE'S OF MY ANKLE'S,BOTH ANKLE'S REALLY BLEEDING,SOTHEN, I WASHED THEM,AND PUT BANDAGE'S ON THEM,BY NIGHT TIME MY ANKLE'S WERE ALLHEALED UP.THEY HEALED SO FAST.THIS REALY DID REALLY HAPPEN.

Well, this wouldn't be the first time an intense psychological experience resulted in mysterious bleeding. Usually this is associated with stigmata (Christian-related), but there have been non-Christian instances reported as well. Of course let's not discount the possibility that an actual vampire (of the astral variety, probably) fed off you in your sleep.

A lot of people give into the temptation to taste just a little bit of their own blood--from a wound, a paper cut, from anything. Usually they're amazed at how unrevolting it actually tastes. Of course the taste changes from person to person--salty, sweet, sour, whatever. That you would find your own blood tasty is not at all surprising.

We don't deal with mythology and folklore here. Day walkers? Full vampires? You either are a vampire or you are not, and only you know the difference.

There is no one specific vampire language of which we are aware. The standard tongues of humanity suit us well, and we always have Egyptian, Sumerian, Greek, Latin, and other ancient languages if we would like to shake things up. Perhaps you're seeking to learn one of the magical languages?

Assuming this vampire is real and all the relative conventions are in place, he may not have turned you because he does not feel you are ready.

As we said, in his own wisdom he does not feel you are ready. You would do well not to question his wisdom, as he knows the vampire condition infinitely better than you do. Additionally, he seems to have gained a rather sizeable power over you.

I wondering what it means to dream of a vampire since you where young before evennothing what one was. Is it possiable to be claimed by own since birth or a pastlife to inpacked you that much? All I know is the passion and love felted in thosedreams since I was little is ones that no one seems to match. Or am I just insanelol. All I know is that I want to know the meaning of this dream since I was little.This deep passion and love that was betrayed in these dreams. Sigh I dont know ifIll ever know the meaning of them or the person to case them. Wondering if you haveany insight on this.

Okay. We have an answer for this, and we think it's a good answer. On the other hand, it might seem a little convoluted, so bear with us.

Some form of a vampiric creature can be found in the folklore of virtually every culture in the world. This leads us to believe that the vampire "archetype" is common among human beings. Is it part of what has been called the collective subconcious mind? Well, we have no scientific proof for that, but we personally think this is very likely.

In your dreams, you may be getting into contact with that subconcious part of your mind. Your particular mind has selected the vampire as your archetype link back to the collective human subconcious mind. It's not the vampire, exactly, but what the vampire stands for that will give you insight.

Unfortunately, vampires mean different things to different people, so we can't give you a direct conclusion. What you might do is sit with a pad of paper and make a list of all the things vampires mean to you as well as what else vampires make you consider. When you read this back you hopefully will be closer to a resolution.

You've just found a whole bunch of vampires by visiting this site. Try plugging "vampire" or "real vampire" into your favorite search engine and watch the magic. We doubt any real vampire will bite you on request without building up some kind of rapport first.

I came upon your website and thought I'd give it a shot to a question I have. FirstI understand a vampire and it's donor has to have a lot of trust and communicationbetween the two, but I was wondering if ever could a vampire start to have strongerfeelings for the donor or do they like to keep it more on a professional level? andalso can they have more then one donor or do they like to keep it to one?

Vampires get swept up in the tides of emotion just like anyone else. There's very little one can do that is more intimate than a bond of blood, and that intimacy can take flight. On the other hand, many vampires are much more business-like about it. We encourage sanguinarians to keep to one donor, but there are no laws limiting the number of donors.

Fake vampires, real vampires, vampires in limbo. How do any of us really know the mechanisms of another's mind? We ought to be spending more time looking at ourselves than judging the authenticity of others.

The vampire is a fluid entity, and there are as many truths as you can imagine. Anyone claiming to have the only way is not a vampire but a cult leader.

In our truth, vampires began in the primitive minds of human beings. We are not damned souls. We also think that anyone who cries up and down that vampires cannot exist is perhaps a little closed-minded.

First we want to thank everyone who's sent us a question so far. For this first question and answer post, we took a few questions that we felt represented major curiosities about real vampires. Many of these have been sent to us in regard to the movie Twilight, based upon the novel of the same name. We hope to provide answers and at the same time give a brief introduction to the vampire community.

Someone said that Dracula was based on a real person. Is this true?

Dracula was not only based on an actual historical figure, but was himself a real person...in a sense.

Bram Stoker had never actually been to Transylvania when he chose it as the home turf of his celebrated undead count. People well-read in mythology and folklore have said that many of the traits Stoker gave his Dracula came straight from Stoker's own imagination and not from the vampire lore of Eastern Europe. However, Stoker apparently read up on his history, especially from the area of Wallachia, where a man named Vlad III terrorized his people and defended Europe against the encroaching Ottoman Empire.

Vlad's surname may have been "Dracula", but there is no evidence that he ever indulged in vampiric activity. His father Vlad II, also a warrior, took his surname "Dracul" from his membership in the Order of the Dragon, an elite group of nobles fighting for Christianity. The younger Vlad's connection to his father is expressed by "Dracula", which implies "son of Dracul".
But Dracula is better known by the moniker attributed to him after his death--Vlad Tepes, or Vlad the Impaler.

We can deduce that Stoker had this exceptionally cruel but effective ruler in mind in naming the count from Transylvania, but not because Vlad claimed to be a vampire.

Do I have to be a vampire to date a vampire?

There are no restrictions on whom vampires can date as a general rule, but we do need to look at this on a case by case basis. Some vampire groups forbid members to interact with non-vampires on any kind of romantic level. Many vampires themselves don't feel comfortable getting into any degree of intimacy with non-vampires.

We believe that in more cases than not, vampire/non-vampire dating is not an issue so long as the individuals involved have open minds and open communications. For that matter, we know many mixed married/partnered couples that are getting along very well.

Aren't vampires killers?

There is such a thing as criminal vampirism. In these cases the assailant claims to be a vampire and to have done their crime (generally violent) as a part of being a vampire. This happens and we can't look the other way. But these individuals are not acting as part of the vampire community.

Does sunlight make you uncomfortable?

We personally have no problem with sunlight, although we're not the beach and tanning sort. Every day Sappho walks her dog in broad daylight.

Do you have a heartbeat?

If we didn’t, we’d be dead. Maybe a better question is whether we have hearts. We do have hearts--and lungs and livers and brains and all that other visceral good stuff.

Do you eat human food?

At first we weren’t sure if the questioner meant humans as food or the kind of food that human beings eat. Well, we don't eat humans or human parts--that would be psychopathy, and while we may be a lot of things, we aren't that. Either way, we can get down with a French silk pie like nobody’s business.

How does this lifestyle work?

For us, vampirism is not a lifestyle. It is what we are, the same way we have green or brown or blue eyes. We suppose you could say the lifestyle works for us because we are true to ourselves.

Why haven't humans discovered you yet?

They haven’t? About every culture on earth has some kind of vampire-like legend. And have you seen the list of books and films about vampires?

Why doesn't the Bible speak of vampires?

The Bible doesn’t speak of a lot of things, in case you haven't noticed. It doesn't speak of the Western Hemisphere or of caribou, either. The Bible is not exactly your one-stop shopping for knowledge.

Why do you choose to reveal yourself to us now?

We're not choosing anything. You’ve come asking.

What percent of the population do think is the type of vampire that you're talking about?

Based on twenty years of experience and observation, we would say maybe ten out of one hundred have the potential to be a vampire. But nowhere near that number actually realizes their vampiric nature.

So what’s the difference between you and a human?

There is no difference. We are human. We just have a certain hypersensitivity and development beyond what might be considered normal.

How do we all know you’re real?

You don’t. Whether or not you accept the existence of real vampires is your choice and your decision.

Do you have fangs?

We don’t even have wisdom teeth anymore.

Can you get pregnant?

Our ladies can.

Are you really stuck at the age of eighteen forever?

Yikes! We can’t think of too much worse than being stuck at eighteen. We wouldn’t want to go through our twenties again for anything. Fortunately, we age one year for every orbit around the sun, just like everyone else. Any similarities to enduring youthfulness are a result of good living.

What’s the deal with holy water and crucifixes?

We don’t know, what is the deal with them? Actually, that belief is left over from much older times when vampires were seen as children of the Devil that could be defeated with the accoutrements of the Christian God.

The First Post--What's Up, What's Here, What's Going On?

How you have come to arrive here is not as important as the fact that you are here now, and we welcome you.

"Ask A Vampire" has come about as a result of endless Internet discussions and e-mails asking some very basic questions about vampires--that is, real vampires. Believe what you want, but vampires are indeed well and might be living right in your own area.

We've noticed that we tend to get many of the same questions over and over again. So let's get some madness out of the way.

1) We do not think we are immortal.

2) We do not start to smolder and burn in sunlight.

3) We do not have natural fangs.

4) We do not sleep in coffins.

5) No one can teach you a rote form of vampirism. You must learn it through your own experiences.

6) Learn what you can. Choose what does and does not suit you.

7) We did not suddenly possess any kind of super powers, unless you count the ability to play with energy which in and of itself might be considered a super power.

8) We're not immune from disease.

9) We were not blessed with instant sex appeal.
